From Richard and Lenora Pong
The theme suggests a two step process: training for a goal & receiving a reward. There is also the sports analogy. For understanding we look at the parts. To succeed we put all (or some) of the parts together.
CHOSEN
Athletes are chosen to play for a team, often with a large salary.
Christians are also chosen.

WHEN WE FAIL
Athletes pick themselves up and go on. They think about their mistakes and learn from them. They make efforts to correct their mistakes. They look ahead and don’t dwell on their failures. A good coach and team will be supportive.
