For years a big part of our MAYF has been the recreational activities… I think with the topic Glory in Competition we will be able to show how we can glorify God through those activities… I like Lauren’s idea of the four groups but I’m not sure we will have enough to divide ourselves into that many groups… Maybe two and have half the girls with half the guys and come up with activities to compete and win maybe a cup or something at the end.
With the topic Glory in Competition we can have the following classes:
1) Being persistant and working hard.
2) The feeling of accomplishment
3) Recovery from failure
4) God wants you to succeed.
Each of these classes can be backed up by scripture and should be fairly easy for the teachers to come up with lessons that follow the theme. The main verse for the topic could be 1 Corinthians 9:24 “Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize.”
In the verses surrounding verse 24 in chapter 9 they go in greater detail about what it takes to compete for Christ and the glory of it.

um just an idea for the winning for christ or the competition, if we were to have this theme, we could split the camp into 4 colored teams and have like a couple major recreation events competing against eachother. and for the t-shirts each team could decorate their team colored shirt. almost like a color war but a more positve term.

Hey. It’s Romeo and here is my description of Finding Forever:
The topic is a bit abstract. The theme is designed to motivate people to be committed Christians. When we are baptized, we’re living towards a life with God. This doesn’t end after the baptism, it continues in our spirit until we die. We dedicate our limited time with the Lord so that we may be along side him for eternity. Throughout our life, we need to live the life God wants us to live, his son being the best example. Jesus died, but did not cease to exist. His word lives in the hearts of his followers and continues to spread, remaining forever.
Class Suggestions(Names are subject to change)
- Forever & A Day (being committed)
In a world where we can quit, we need to withstand troubles and continue.
- (Path of Righteousness)
Follow the example of others, mainly Christ, to live a life that glorifies God in all aspects.
- Remembering the Forever
Even though something may be gone, doesn’t mean it ceases to exist.
- The End Result
After living a life devoted to God, we will spend eternity with God in his glory.

There are about 32 other churches that receive only postal mail. We can send info out with the Area Calendars on Feb. 1st if the team doesn’t mind waiting. Keep in mind it is $0.41 per envelope.
I have also updated Registrations forms for Silver Spring Teens, Chaperones, and Guests. Two copies of each are in the foyer next to a little basket. More copies can be made once the team approves.
One additional theme was discussed at the meeting: Finding Forever (being committed to being a Christian) by Romeo Portillo.
