January 17 2010

Already Established:

Date: April 23 – 25

Speaker: Hamil Harris

We discussed themes, class set up, and teacher nominations

Topics

Guiding Light (Psalms 43:3)

night hike

sludgepot

house with different stories

also is a soap opera

Fully Alive (1 Timothy 4:12)

We can do things now despite our young age. How to have a practical life

alternate names: we are here now, we are the church, live out loud, our generation

Decision: Fully Alive (1 Timothy 4:12)

Schedule

15 minutes of singing

45 minutes of speaking

30 minutes of class

Twice on Saturday. There will also be an intro on Friday and a sermon on Sunday.

Classes

There were many different options of how to do classes, but they were so confusing that I will just record our decisions.

There will be 2 classes. One will be split randomly and the other will have girls and guys seperated.

We definitely want to have interactive classes, so one of our future meetings will deal with what type of classes we want. We also need to develop a curriculm for the classes and then more detailed guidelines for our speaker.

Teachers

We nominated these teachers:

Vanessa Hall

Harvey Johnson

Joe Hamilton

Jody Venkatasen

Jane Jakson

Jonathoan Walker

Jesse Glance – Backup

Bonnie Bryan

Eric Brandt

Eric Rogers, Sr.

Scott Cameron

Toby and Tiffany Tomerlin

Romeo and I will be trying to get in contact with them before the next meeting.

Next Meeting

It was suggested that we have a facebook group and there is also a blog that we need to reopen.

We will

  • vote on teachers
  • discuss what needs to be done
  • maybe look over menu
  • make a future plan

Promoting the Event

March 1st, 2009

Last year, I think we had about 4 churches come to MAYF. In order to promote the event, I plan to visit the Rockville Church of Christ on March 15. I think if people could visit congregations, we can increase attendance to the event. Since there isn’t a lot of time, we need to act fast. I will formally introduce this idea at the next meeting.

Meeting Minutes v2.0 - 2/15/09

February 16th, 2009

I’m not sure if anyone else can see the minutes in the previous post. If that is the case, here’s a backup

Guidelines(* - Nominated for a class):

  • How to live the life
  • *Supply and Demand
  • Base curriculum on Bible verses; how to apply them to everyday life
  • *What to do when you don’t know what to do
  • *Where to live the life
  • Just do it
  • Side notes: acting or roleplaying as a class activity, debate (choose the life you want), Game of Life (I assume the board game)
  • How to create a facebook page - how your profile looks like
  • Double Life; two-faced personality

Classes chosen (2 classes)

  1. Supply and Demand
  2. What to do when you don’t know what to do

Business Issues:

Confirmation that Elmer Pacheco is guest speaking

Designs looked at for t-shirts; stencil is likely to be non-paper to allow re-use

Classes to be seperated by grades (possibly 7th-9th grade and 10th-12th grade)

Possible Teachers discussed:

  • Jody Venkatesan
  • Ray Hall
  • Jaime Hourd
  • Steve Hemphill
  • Curt and Julie Harris (however, already volunteering in kitchen)
  • Hamil Harris
  • Derek McNamara

Meeting Minutes 2-15-09

Random Thoughts

February 9th, 2009

I was thinking about changing the password for giggles… but decided against it…

A couple random thoughts:

1) We should follow last year as a template and pretty much keep the same schedule, food, and class structures…

2) In one of our meetings we can all look at it on the board and just make tweaks here and there to jazz it up…

3) What is the link for that stencil thing for the shirts? Maybe the meeting right before we leave, we can all pre-make a whole bunch of shirts??

4) Verses for classes… Ideas for free time….

5) Who are we inviting?

What we need to do

March 23rd, 2008

There are alot of things that need to be done before we are ready for the Youth Forum.

-place people in cabins, gather the registrations

-give teachers their assignments

-talk to the chosen speaker as a group

-anything else that I can’t think of

We might want to work on these.
